WHO AM I ?

This perennial question which has haunted mankind since times immemorial has intrigued me too. Not a day passes when I do not think about it. Born and brought up in a normal middle class Brahmin family where both my parents were Government servants, I had a plethora of experiences and exposure to all kinds of worldly knowledge. Being eldest of all the three siblings, I was to be mature and responsible even when I was a child myself. 

What it means to have a mother who is a teacher is an experience beyond words. The basic and forever loathed emotions of discipline, accountability and integrity flow and blow around you and you have no way out but to breathe them – sink in them. Not only that if you have a father who is morally upright even though he is a Central Government employee – you had it all. You grow up amongst people who are indifferent to their work and those who slog their way out behind piles and piles of work( courtesy indifferent people). One such man was my father- righteous and ready to sacrifice his pleasure for the comfort of others. 

To add to this enchanting experience were the creative and ingenious ways my brother and sister will try to pester me. They never had enough money or stationery to cater to their needs hence only solution was to demand help from me and if denied then steal! Easy way out! So I grew up to be a responsible ( mildly dominating) twenty one year old. Phew!

Then entered my knight in the shining armour ( now my Husband) to rescue a damsel who was nowhere in distress. But as destiny would have it we got engaged and eventually married after almost an year ( the spring of 1997). It was termed as a child marriage ( shout out to the Courts in India) by my baby brother. Incidentally, I owe all my four Post Graduate Degrees, my Teachers Training Degree and my Degree from the Cambridge University to my Husband- and to him alone. He stood as my pillar of strength and helped me achieve ( whatever little I have), against all odds. Even my decision to get published is not my decision but his motivation. A large hearted man he is! 

My life would seem totally vain, incomplete and insignificant if I do not mention my handsome son who is a college going lad with a heart of gold ( of course he has taken to me). He adds meaning to my life – my being.

The author is an amateur trying her hands in writing Hindi and English poems on random topics.   With four Post Graduate degrees in English, Education and Psychology along with the TKT from Cambridge University, she is basically exploring and finding herself. A Bhopal based, happily married mother of a handsome undergraduate son has found her calling in Teaching and training young minds not only in the subject concerned but for life.

She is held very highly in the opinions of her young friends ( her students) who consider her a mentor par excellence. Her selfless and sane guidance is valued very highly by one and all proving herself as a motivational factor in the lives of many.

A diehard fan of Jagjit Singh and Enrique, she loves to read voraciously on diverse themes. With her maiden venture she is open to all kinds of suggestions and criticisms.
