They cleaned the place with disinfectant. The body had been taken away in a bag. Ladli’s broken bangles gleamed in the dustbin. The crescent moon glowed whimsically, casting it’s glow on the small house underneath the peepal tree.
The Covid-19 virus had taken away Sohanlal’s job as well as his home on the pavements of Mumbai. Leaving behind the citadel of his dreams, he walked for fifteen days along the roads and along the tracks. But hungry and weak, he collapsed on the outskirts of Varanasi.
An NGO came and took their orphaned baby girl. They named her ‘Khushi’.
