GRANDMA’S LIFE
Life is weird, it challenges people. Often when we think we can’t go any further, people appear who cheer us on and we step in a better mood towards a new path.
The sun was waking up for a new summer day. The birds sang in the canopy of an old oak tree in front of the house at the end of the village street. An old woman lived in the house, with a wrinkled face, gray hair, slow movements, but she had optimism in her eyes. The voices of the children took her to the past.
“Mom, I’m going to town with do you need anything?”she heard the voice of her daughter, who has been quiet lately and often hides in her room.
“Who are you going with and when are you coming back?” she asked, but Jelena looked down and fell silent. “I’m going with Sanja, she goes to the doctor because she has a problem, she’s pregnant, and she’s only 17 and she’s afraid of.” “Does the father of the future child know about this?” There was silence, Jelena began to cry.
“Why are you crying?” the mother asked. “He knows, but he doesn’t want to hear about the child.” she said and bowed her head. “What does Sanja want?” Jelena knelt down, raised her head towards her mother and said: “I’m sorry, I can’t lie anymore, I’m pregnant, the child’s father doesn’t want obligations and he decided to have an abortion.” “How many months does a pregnancy last?” “I squeezed my stomach, I don’t know, but I feel like the baby is alive and moving inside me.”
“You can’t do that anymore, because you’re not a killer, and I’ll help the child grow up. We are not rich, but we have two hearts that will warm that child and feed him with love.”
It’s time to give birth. They went to the hospital together. At five in the morning my mother gave birth to me, and my grandmother got a granddaughter who will never forget the gift, the life given to her.
