Archana Tandon (Category-Poetry)(Saga of Pain|Certificate of Excellence)

This is a poem I wrote on seeing my mother struggle to stay alive, fighting for breath as she lay there in pain to stay alive…only to succumb later…

Those eyes said
They wanted to keep on observing
Those hands said
They wanted to keep on writing

Those lips said
They wanted to keep on smiling
The heart said
It wanted to keep on loving

The mind said
It was satisfied
But not ready to sleep
The ears heard
And the mind understood
And put in all its efforts
Not to give in

But destiny was not on her side
Though the self efforts
Were not ready to give up
The dwindling heart
Had no one on its side

Slowly the reversible
Became irreversible
With the curvy lines
Becoming straight
Slowly dawned the realisation
Of the lost fight
With it dawned the infliction
Of the foisted loss on us
Which reciprocally meant
A divine gain for her
