THINGS FALL APART

THINGS FALL APART (1958), the alpha of English African literature, is a novel by Nigerian author CHINUA ACHEBE hailed as the doyen of African letters. The novel chronicles pre-colonial Nigeria and its catacylsmic encounter with Europe, loneliness, abandonment, fear and importance of societal relationships.
Told through fictional experiences of tragic hero Okonkwo, a wealthy and fearless warrior of Umuofia, it explores one man’s futile resistance to the devaluing of his Igbo tradition by British political andreligious forces and his despair as his community catapulates to the powerful new order.
Translated in 50 languages, it is the 1st book written about ‘DARK CONTINENT’ with real voices and true representation of real Africa .
