The Poet celebrates each moment either captured or lived by Darshan Raval through these poems penned down using different rhyme schemes. The poems are rife with lingering emotions. She relates each poem with a vividly captured memory. Rajani Nair has dived into the heart of Darshan to understand his emotions through a picture. The book also reflects her thoughts and emotions about the star. With “Superstar” wherein the poet has used ABAB rhyme scheme, the theme delves into a relationship between a father and his son in a powerful yet subtle way.
That smile on his face, says it all
His little boy now fits his shoe
Always there at your beck and call
Reserves himself, not to overdo
“Unconditionally” is beautifully written in free verse and as the poet herself suggests does not need a picture.
I want you to know
You came along and swept me off my feet
Your voice is the indicator of my hearing
Your music is food for my soul
Sands of Time – The connection of time and him, along with the poem’s dramatic lines results in a melody that brings hope with each stanza. The lines are strong with emotions; though the message that comes across is positive that comes from the speaker’s decision to fulfil his aspirations.
As the waves wash over my feet
They awaken a new chime
That I will always follow the flow
And conquer the Sands of Time.
Magic Fingers – Describing his fingers on his guitar, the poet feels they are wounded as the strings are not gentle enough. The poet’s heart is filled with peace and her soul soothes as she depicts Darshan’s thoughts in this poem.
Window of opportunity is another lovely piece of poetry. The poet visualizes through Darshan’s eyes, as he looks out of the window. Sees a wider horizon and wants to achieve and persist. It is always hopeful to look out of the window as opportunity lies there.
Through these bunch of emotional poems, based on his photographs Rajani Nair has proved it all along that, pictures do speak thousand words. Her lines reflect on the thoughts of Darshan Raval, bringing out his feelings and emotions too. Some of the poems are addressed in first person and the poet has used it to her advantage so that she can connect to the reader as well as his fans. A few more recommendations from my side, “End of Sphere”, “Cocoon”, “Reflections” and “Feet Don’t Touch the Ground.”
A hope, a dream, an inspiration for all those who may not be his fans but if you are a Darshan Raval fan, you won’t miss the butterfly.
